The Penelopiad

I can see Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad Making it to classrooms one day (soon?). It wasn’t long and I found it easy to read. More than anything though, I found this twist on an ancient tale very interesting. How are we supposed to know what the “real” story is? Well researched, this could very well be true. The whole story seemed so fascinating (including the Credits and Acknowledgements); I would like to really study it one day. I do plan on finding the other books in The Myths Series. If The Penlopiad is any indication, I have some great reading ahead of me.

For more information on The Myths Series check out their website.

  1. Wonderful little review of The Penelopiad, Loni! I love this little book (as I do most of Atwood's writing). And you should follow up on others in the Canongate Myth Series--they're all pretty darn good reading. I can't wait to get my hands on A.S. Byatt's new contribution to the series, Ragnarok. Cheers! 2. Thanks Christopher. I'm definitely an Atwood fan. I've also read a few more of the Myth Series books since this post. I've read A Short History of Myth, The Helmet of Horror, Girl Meets Boy, Dream Angus and Weight. I have two more of the series sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. Unfortunately, Ragnarok is not one of them. Some of them I liked and some I didn't. I have reviews posted here on all of them. I do plan on reading all the Myth books eventually.
